The Story of This Rug
The tradition of large flowers on a light ground continues the bespoke rugs woven by Ziegler workshops for European palaces; the scale grows, while the palette softens. The brown border gives the composition an antique seal.
Why Choose a One-of-a-Kind Handwoven Afghan Rug
- Originality: There is only one of this rug; the same knot rhythm and dye batch can never be repeated.
- Durability of plant dyes: Unlike synthetic aniline dyes, root dyes do not fade – they only soften over time.
- Ghazni wool: Long-fiber, lanolin-rich wool from high-altitude sheep provides natural stain resistance and a silky sheen.
- Asymmetrical Persian knot: Finer detail resolution and sharper motif edges than the Turkish (Gördes) knot.
- Investment value: Genuine handwoven rugs dyed with plant-based dyes gain value through generations of use.
Color and Pattern
Large flowers in blue, cinnamon, and pale green bloom in a free arrangement on an ivory ground; a dark brown border frames the design. The light ground makes the room feel larger, while the dark border brings the furniture together.
Care Recommendations
- Vacuum on a low setting using a brushless vacuum head.
- Blot spills immediately with a white cotton cloth; do not rub.
- Rotate 180° every 6 months to distribute sunlight and foot traffic evenly.
- Leave wet cleaning to a rug specialist experienced with plant dyes.
Afghan handwoven rugs are not "manufactured"; they are "woven." This piece is no exception: it will be sold once, and no other home will have one exactly like it.

Protect Their Elegance
To preserve the original splendor and silky texture of Carpetdocia’s handwoven, natural-fiber creations that bring value to your living space for generations, adopt a gentle care routine.
Immediate Action and Liquid Spills
When spills occur, timing is critical. Use a clean, slightly damp cloth to lift the liquid from the surface by gently blotting only - never rub. Always work in the direction of the rug pile (the fibers’ natural lay). Rubbing can damage the shape of delicate fibers such as TENCEL™ and viscose. If in doubt, stop immediately.
Routine Care and Light Balance
For your weekly cleaning routine, always use vacuum cleaners with low suction power. High-powered upright vacuums and stiff brushes can damage the natural structure of handwoven yarns. To balance natural fibers’ reaction to light and prevent localized tonal differences (fading), we recommend changing your rug’s direction every 2 to 6 months.
The Expert Touch (Professional Cleaning)
Noble fibers such as handwoven TENCEL™, viscose, and New Zealand wool should not come into contact with household chemical cleaners. These products can irreversibly damage the rug’s silky sheen and structural integrity. For a thorough clean, seek help only from professional rug care centers specializing in natural fibers.
Washing Instructions
The exquisite pieces in the Carpetdocia collections are not suitable for machine washing due to their construction. (Only specific models explicitly labeled “Washable” in their name can be washed in home washing machines using a low-temperature, delicate cycle.)
