Portofino Collection 55% Viscose 35% Wool 10% Cotton Handwoven Modern Living Room Rug – Silver
The Portofino Collection Handwoven Rug is a modern striped collection that combines style and comfort with a blend of 55% viscose, 35% wool, and 10% cotton. Viscose’s silky sheen, wool’s warmth, and cotton’s lightness come together in one rug. Its 10 mm pile height offers balanced softness, while its weight of 5000 g/m² gives it a substantial, dense, and long-lasting construction. With its Mediterranean-inspired modern design, it brings timeless style to spaces such as living rooms and lounges. This version stands out in a luminous, cool silver tone, with viscose’s silky sheen shifting in the light.
What Are Viscose, Wool, and Cotton?
The Portofino Collection is made from a balanced blend of viscose, wool, and cotton fibers, with each fiber lending the rug its own qualities. Viscose is a natural-origin, regenerated fiber made from wood cellulose; its silk-like softness and natural sheen add luster to the surface. Wool is a natural fiber obtained from sheep that provides warmth, resilience, and durability. Cotton is a natural, breathable, and sturdy plant-based fiber that helps the rug retain its shape and balance. The Portofino Collection combines 55% viscose, 35% wool, and 10% cotton. This blend balances viscose’s silky sheen, wool’s warmth and durability, and cotton’s shape retention. Combined with a 10 mm pile height and a dense weave weighing 5000 g/m², it creates a luxurious, substantial, and long-lasting handwoven rug with both visual appeal and structural integrity.
Is Viscose a Natural Fiber?
Viscose is not entirely a natural fiber, but it is a natural-origin fiber made from regenerated cellulose. Its raw material comes from natural sources such as wood and plant cellulose; it is not a petroleum-based synthetic fiber like polyester or nylon. As a result, viscose stands out for its natural-origin composition while offering a natural sheen and softness similar to silk. In the Portofino Collection, viscose combines with wool and cotton to create a balanced blend of natural and natural-origin fibers.
Portofino and Mediterranean Inspiration
Portofino is a famous and elegant Mediterranean fishing village on the Ligurian coast of Italy, known worldwide for its pastel-colored buildings, tranquil harbor, and clear light falling across the shore. The Portofino Collection brings this Mediterranean inspiration into living spaces with a modern interpretation. The village’s soft, airy color palette is reflected in the rug’s warm natural tones and simple lines. Like sunlight shimmering on the water, the viscose fiber creates a silky sheen that changes across the surface depending on the angle of the light. Wool and cotton balance this sheen with a warm, substantial texture. The result is a collection that gives interiors both a calm, elegant Mediterranean feel and a modern, luxurious character.

How Do You Clean a Viscose-Blend Rug?
Portofino Collection viscose-wool-cotton blend rugs should only be cleaned by professional rug-cleaning companies. Because the viscose and wool fibers are sensitive to water and excessive moisture, washing at home, machine washing, or wet cleaning is not recommended. For everyday care, use a low-suction vacuum cleaner and gently blot any stains with a slightly damp cloth to help preserve the rug’s silky sheen, texture, and colors over time.

Protect Its Elegance
To preserve the original splendor and silky texture of Carpetdocia’s handwoven creations made with natural fibers—which add value to your living space—for generations, a careful care routine is essential.
Immediate Action and Liquid Spills
When a liquid spills, timing is critical. Using a clean, slightly damp cloth, blot the liquid gently from the surface without rubbing. Always work in the direction of the rug’s pile (the natural direction in which the fibers lie). Rubbing can damage the shape of delicate fibers such as TENCEL™ and viscose. If in doubt, stop immediately.
Routine Care and Light Balance
For your weekly cleaning routine, always use a vacuum cleaner with low suction. High-powered upright vacuums and stiff brushes can damage the natural structure of handwoven yarns. To balance how natural yarns react to light and prevent uneven changes in color (fading), we recommend rotating your rug every 2 to 6 months.
Expert Care (Professional Cleaning)
Fine textures such as handwoven fibers, TENCEL™, viscose, and New Zealand wool should not come into contact with household chemical cleaners. These products can irreversibly damage the rug’s silky sheen and structural integrity. For a thorough clean, seek help only from professional rug care centers specializing in natural fibers.
Washing Instructions
Due to their construction, the exceptional pieces in Carpetdocia collections are not suitable for machine washing. (Only our specific models explicitly marked “Washable” in their names can be washed in household machines on a low-temperature, delicate cycle.)
