Oushak Carnaval 100% Natural Handmade TENCEL™ Modern Ushak Rug – Beige (Gabbeh Stripe)
The Oushak Carnaval Collection features modern Ushak rugs handcrafted from 100% natural Lyocell (TENCEL™). The silky texture and natural sheen of TENCEL™ fibers bring elegance and a luxurious feel to your living spaces. The fringed edges lend a classic look, while the 7.5 mm pile height creates a soft, comfortable surface. Carefully woven with 168,000 knots and a weight of 3,300 g/m², this rug is dense and durable. This variant features a modern Gabbeh-inspired design with small tribal motifs arranged in horizontal rows on a beige and cream background. The simple motifs of the Gabbeh style reflect the warm, inviting aesthetic of nomadic weaving traditions.
What Is TENCEL™ (Lyocell)?
TENCEL™ is the registered brand name for lyocell fiber produced by Austrian company Lenzing AG. It is made from wood cellulose sourced from sustainably managed forests using an environmentally friendly, closed-loop production process. TENCEL™ is known for its silk-like softness, natural sheen, high moisture absorption, and biodegradable properties. In the Oushak Carnaval Collection, TENCEL™ fiber is combined with handwoven craftsmanship to create a silky, lustrous surface and a durable, luxurious texture.
Ushak Rugs and a Modern Interpretation
For centuries, Uşak, a city in western Anatolia, has been a center of carpet weaving. Renowned around the world since the Ottoman era for their star and medallion patterns, Ushak rugs are celebrated for their elegant color transitions and masterful craftsmanship. The Oushak Carnaval Collection brings this rich Ushak tradition together with a modern, artistic interpretation, reimagining traditional motifs with contemporary color palettes and the silky texture of TENCEL™.

How Do You Clean a TENCEL™ Rug?
Daily care for Oushak Carnaval TENCEL™ rugs is simple: vacuum gently using a low-suction setting, and carefully blot any spills with a slightly damp (not wet) cloth. However, TENCEL™ is a natural cellulose fiber and is sensitive to water and excessive moisture, so do not soak the rug or machine-wash it. For a deep clean, use a professional rug cleaning service. This helps preserve the rug’s silky sheen and colors for longer.
The Oushak Carnaval Collection is made from sustainably sourced TENCEL™ fibers. For more information about the material’s sustainability and our certifications, visit our sustainability and certifications page.

Protect Its Elegance
To preserve the original splendor and silky texture of Carpetdocia’s handwoven creations made with natural fibers—which add value to your living space—for generations, a careful care routine is essential.
Immediate Action and Liquid Spills
When a liquid spills, timing is critical. Using a clean, slightly damp cloth, blot the liquid gently from the surface without rubbing. Always work in the direction of the rug’s pile (the natural direction in which the fibers lie). Rubbing can damage the shape of delicate fibers such as TENCEL™ and viscose. If in doubt, stop immediately.
Routine Care and Light Balance
For your weekly cleaning routine, always use a vacuum cleaner with low suction. High-powered upright vacuums and stiff brushes can damage the natural structure of handwoven yarns. To balance how natural yarns react to light and prevent uneven changes in color (fading), we recommend rotating your rug every 2 to 6 months.
Expert Care (Professional Cleaning)
Fine textures such as handwoven fibers, TENCEL™, viscose, and New Zealand wool should not come into contact with household chemical cleaners. These products can irreversibly damage the rug’s silky sheen and structural integrity. For a thorough clean, seek help only from professional rug care centers specializing in natural fibers.
Washing Instructions
Due to their construction, the exceptional pieces in Carpetdocia collections are not suitable for machine washing. (Only our specific models explicitly marked “Washable” in their names can be washed in household machines on a low-temperature, delicate cycle.)
